Jessie wanted a change of scenery and something a little different when it came time for her maternity photos. She didn’t want to go too far but was willing to venture out with us to one of our favorite places in Oklahoma, the Wichita Wildlife Refuge in Lawton.
The weather was absolutely gorgeous, and so was Jessie, as we led her into the Parallel Forest. This forest, mind you, isn’t just any forest. This forest consists of over 20,000 red cedars, planted exactly 6 feet apart in every direction and spans over 16 acres. The uniformity is incredible. This paired with the pretty pockets of sunlight peeking through the treetops made for such a whimsical setting. And so there Jessie and Christian were, drenched in the most gorgeous light. The cameras couldn’t get enough. But this was only the first part.
We drove further into the refuge, weaving through the endless fields. Occasionally spotting a buffalo or two. Our next stop happened to be one of many beautiful lakes. Jessie and Christian looked so peaceful next to the waters. We do hope they enjoyed that moment—once the baby comes, all bets are off!
To close out our adventure, we just had to make a visit to the top of Mt Scott. Weaving our way up the mountain, we barely made it in time to witness the epic sunset over the hills. If only pictures did it justice, but you really have to be there to fully witness the breath-taking views. Speaking of breath-taking, for Jessie’s shoot, Becca had a vision for a specific shot that she really wanted to capture. She envisioned a long, flowing dress + mountain + sunset + Jessie, of course. We collaborated with Oklahoma dressmaker, Tiffany V Nguyen, who produced the most perfect flowing skirt. Jessie looked simply INCREDIBLE as she stood atop the rocks, dress and hair whipping fiercely in the wind. As a bonus, we snuck in a few frames after the sun crept behind the horizon. It was the most perfect evening.
These moments come and go, but we loved the chance to capture them. Motherhood looks amazing on you, Jessie. Congrats again to you and Christian!
